Structured insights

AI-generated summaries that surface what matters most.

Timestamp citations

Every insight links to the exact moment in the video.

Reusable templates

Built for research, learning, investing, and more.

How it works

Three steps from link to answer

No setup, no extensions, no uploads. Everything runs from a URL.

  1. 01

    Add your sources

Paste YouTube links or search without leaving the app. Analyze up to 50 videos in a single pass.

  2. 02

    Pick how to read them

Choose a template or write your own prompt, then define the exact output shape you want back.

  3. 03

    Read, ask, and share

Get a structured gist, chat with the full transcript, and send a link anyone can open.

Sharing

Send a gist, not a two-hour link.

Every analysis has its own address. Share it and the recipient gets the summary, the source videos, and the prompt that produced it — enough context to trust the result without watching anything.

  • Unlisted by default — readable with the link, never browsable
  • Rich previews in Slack, iMessage, and X
  • Recipients can open the transcript chat themselves

Use cases

Built for people who watch to learn

However you use long-form video, the workflow is the same: read the gist, then dig in where it matters.

Research

Pull a dozen conference talks into one brief and trace every claim back to its source.

Learning

Turn a long lecture into structured notes, then ask follow-up questions about anything unclear.

Team updates

Share a gist instead of a two-hour recording. Everyone reads the same summary in a minute.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Do I need an account to try it?

No. You can run an analysis immediately, and your work is kept locally against an anonymous session. When you sign in later, that history moves across with you automatically.

Which videos work?

Any public YouTube video that has captions available — either creator-uploaded or auto-generated. If a transcript cannot be retrieved, VidGist tells you which source failed and why rather than silently dropping it.

What exactly gets shared with a link?

The analysis, its source videos, and the prompt that produced it — so the recipient sees the context, not just the conclusion. Analyses are unlisted by default: anyone with the link can read it, but nobody can browse or search your library.

Can I control the output format?

Yes. Every template ships with a default output schema you can edit field by field, or you can define your own from scratch and get back exactly the structure you need.
