Terms of Service
These terms cover your use of VidGist. They are written to be read, not to be skimmed past — the sections on AI output and on shared links are the ones that matter most in practice.

Accepting these terms
By creating an account or using VidGist, you agree to these terms. If you are using VidGist on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have authority to accept on its behalf. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
What VidGist does
VidGist retrieves the transcript of a YouTube video you point it at, sends that transcript to a third-party AI model along with your prompt, and shows you the result: summaries, key moments, and answers with timestamp citations. It is a reading aid for material you could watch yourself.
Your account
You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your sign-in details secure. Provide accurate information when you register. You must be at least 13 years old to use VidGist.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use VidGist to break the law, infringe someone’s rights, or harass anyone;
- attempt to bypass the free-tier limits, rate limits, or access controls, including by creating multiple accounts to do so;
- probe, scan, overload, or otherwise interfere with the service or its infrastructure;
- scrape or bulk-extract content from VidGist by automated means;
- use the service to build a competing product from its outputs; or
- upload prompts intended to produce unlawful content, or to extract another user’s data.
YouTube content and third-party rights
VidGist processes publicly accessible YouTube videos. It does not grant you any rights in those videos. The underlying video, transcript, and any copyright in them belong to their owners, and your use of an analysis must respect that — a VidGist summary is not a license to republish someone’s work.
You are responsible for having the right to analyze the material you submit. Your use of YouTube is also governed by YouTube’s own terms.
AI-generated output
This is the part worth reading twice. Analyses, summaries, and chat answers are produced by a large language model. They can be incomplete, misleading, or confidently wrong. They can misattribute a statement, invent a detail that was never said, or cite a timestamp that does not support the claim made next to it.
Verify anything load-bearing against the source video before you rely on it. VidGist output is not professional advice of any kind — not legal, medical, financial, or otherwise — and must not be used as a substitute for it. Decisions you make on the basis of an analysis are yours.
Your content
The prompts you write and the analyses generated for you remain yours. You grant us the limited permission needed to operate the service: to store your content, to transmit it to the AI and transcript providers described in our Privacy Policy, and to display it back to you and to anyone you share a link with. We do not use your content to train our own models.
Shared links
Analyses are unlisted rather than private: anyone signed in to VidGist who has the link can read the analysis, its transcripts, and its chat history. There is currently no private-to-you-only setting. Do not put confidential information into a prompt, and do not analyze material you would not want a link-holder to see. Our Privacy Policy describes this in more detail.
Free tier and limits
VidGist is currently free and imposes a monthly cap on the number of analyses per account. We may change the cap, introduce paid plans, or limit resource-intensive use in order to keep the service running for everyone.
Availability
VidGist is provided as-is and as-available. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that transcripts will be obtainable for every video — some videos have no transcript, and third-party providers we depend on can fail or change. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, VidGist and Welzware disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data, arising from your use of the service. Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, in which case they apply to you only as far as the law permits.
Termination
You may stop using VidGist at any time, and can request deletion of your account by emailing support@welzware.com. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms or that puts the service at risk.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top reflects the current version, and material changes will be signposted in the app. Continuing to use VidGist after a change means you accept the updated terms.
